Reports: Multiple mountain lion sightings in Portola Valley

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said it has received reports of multiple mountain lion sightings in Portola Valley, including a report of seeing three mountain lions in the vicinity of Westridge Drive and Cervantes Road in Portola Valley at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.

i'm hitting the challenge button on the report of three mountain lions in close proximity at the same time - way more likely they were misidentified deer or coyote

hi--nope--not deer...they were mountain lions! most likely a female and her two cubs. offspring generally learn how to hunt from their mother during this time of year. cubs stay with mom until 20 months of age, and sometimes until 36 months. california concolor are solitary hunters. our california cats generally do not hunt in packs like we see on discovery channel on the african plains. when multiple cats are seen together at once, it usually means it's a mother and her cubs.
