Will a Skyline Boulevard meditation center in the unincorporated woods above Woodside become a non-medical rehabilitation center for clients with drug and alcohol-addiction problems? Neighbors of 16350 Skyline Blvd. have objected to the proposed change in the use permit for the facility. Of particular concern is the likelihood of recovering addicts smoking cigarettes on the grounds and inadvertently starting a forest fire.
The proposal to change the use permit from a meditation center, the Stillheart Institute, to a rehabilitation facility, the Stillpath Recovery Center, comes before the San Mateo County Planning Commission on Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the Board of Supervisors chambers at 400 County Center in Redwood City. The meeting begins at 9 a.m. The proposal is the first item of business on the agenda.
