Holiday DUI arrests down from last year

Law enforcement officers in San Mateo County said there were eight DUI arrests in the county on Thursday and Friday during a holiday weekend when police agencies set up checkpoints to catch drunken drivers.

DUI arrests during the 48-hour period are down from the 17 arrests during the same time period last year.

Officers said DUI checkpoints will continue in the county through Sunday night.
