Community members can join an existing team or start their own to participate in Relay for Life Menlo Park, during which hundreds will do laps to symbolize the fight against cancer. There will be free entertainment, games, the firefighters' barbeque dinner, a movie and glowing luminarias. Aug. 8, 11 a.m.-Aug. 9, 8 a.m. Free; donations welcome. Benefiting the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, the 45th Menlo Charity Horse Show will provide continuous action in three arenas with around 500 accomplished riders and horses from the U.S. and beyond. There will also be 40 vendors offering jewelry, clothing and art, as well as items for the home, garden and stable. Food and beverages will be on hand. Aug. 4-9, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. $10 one day; $35 six-day pass; free for those under age 12 and over 65. Menlo Circus Club, 190 Park Lane, Atherton.

Estrellita Restaurant in Los Altos will host weekly fundraisers for the Day Worker Center of Mountain View.
