Greeter and peer counselor recruitment
Neighbors Helping Neighbors is recruiting new peer counselors and greeters to help with its programs and services during Community Outreach events held from April to June and September to November. The organization seeks working or retired professionals, as well those with no experience, who are emotionally stable. The time commitment is about two to four hours per month. Training will be provided. March-August. Free. Location varies, Palo Alto and Mountain View, .

Canary Challenge volunteer oppportunities
The Canary Challenge, a fully supported bike ride raising money for early cancer detection research, needs volunteers to help run the event. Opportunities include helping staff the volunteer, registration and gift bag booths and rest stops; supervising the kids zone; providing course directional support; and more. Sept. 26, 6 a.m.-5 p.m. Free. Hewlett Packard headquarters, 3000 Hanover St., Palo Alto.

Living Classroom docent training classes
Living Classroom, a garden-based education program at local schools, is offering docent trainings in Mountain View and Los Altos. Volunteers are needed to share their love of nature with students and must be available for at least four hours per month during the school day. See website for more info.
