Teen Game Night
The Menlo Park Library will host a game night for teenagers ages 12 to 18, where they can access the library's computers and play popular board games. Snacks and some games will be provided, and teens are welcome to bring their own games or video game consoles. April 10, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Free. Menlo Park Library, 800 Alma St., Menlo Park .

Spring Teen Book Club
Menlo Park Library's Book Club program for ages 12 to 18 will meet twice this spring, first to vote on a book to read. Then teens can share their thoughts on the book during the May meeting. Throughout National Poetry Month this April, the Menlo Park Library will hold a Blackout Poetry Contest, during which participants can create poetry by leaving select words visible and blacking out the rest. Author Sabaa Tahir on 'An Ember in the Ashes'
Sabaa Tahir will introduce her debut young adult novel, "An Ember in the Ashes," an epic fantasy set in a Rome-like world that focuses on an orphan and a soldier fighting for family and freedom. April 28, 7 p.m. Free. Kepler's Books, 1010 El Camino Real, Menlo Park.

Youth TV Studio Production Workshop
The Midpeninsula Community Media Center will offer a session for students in grades six to eight where they can learn skills for producing, directing and starring in a TV show. Participants will take a concept to a completed who, creating sets, monitoring cameras and sound, using graphics and acting. June 15-19, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. $450. Alateen meeting
Alateen, a community of young people (ages 12 to 18) whose lives have been affected by someone else's drinking, holds weekly meetings to give each other support -- whether the alcoholic continues to drink or not. Meetings are confidential, anonymous and non-religious. The program is sponsored by Al-Anon and based on the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Thursdays, Feb. 12-Oct. 1, 7-8 p.m. Free.
